Social Inclusion Action Group

People living in Mansfield Shire are invited to apply outlining their interest and how they can contribute to the Mansfield Social Inclusion Action Group (SIAG). Those with lived and living mental health experience either for themselves or as a carer and people who have experienced isolation and marginalisation are encouraged to apply.

The Mansfield group will bring together community members to work together to identify the needs of the community regarding good mental health outcomes, to improve social connection within and across the Mansfield Shire and make decisions about funding local community initiatives to support this.

The focus of the Mansfield Social Inclusion Action Group will be on improving the mental health and wellbeing of the community especially people most likely to be socially isolated through promoting, supporting, and funding new and existing social inclusion initiatives within the community.

This expression of interest is seeking to recruit fifteen community members to join the SIAG. We need people who have a passion for the mental health and wellbeing of our community and believe that grass roots, community led activities and programs can change lives. The SIAG needs to reflect our community and its diversity therefore our representatives will include all demographics from various backgrounds and experiences including those who have worked in health professions and organisations.

We hope to hear from the young, old, LGBTIQA+ people, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from different cultural backgrounds, people with experience of addiction, and people with disabilities. Group members will be community representatives who will work together to garner as much community involvement as possible.

Expressions of interest for the Social Inclusion Action Group are now open and close midnight Monday 4 September 2023.
