From 1 July 2022, the Mansfield District Hospital will be the main provider of aged care services. 

Council is committed to supporting, assisting and advocating for our senior community members. The following services are provided through Council's Community Health and Wellbeing department. If you have any issues or concerns you wish to discuss, please contact us on

Community Bus 

A Council initiative to support resident community members who need transport to do shopping, appointments or have a coffee. The bus operates every Thursday (except Public Holidays) and provides pick up and return to your home.

  • Cost - $6.00 round trip
  • Pick up time – First pick up is at 9.30am. Passengers are dropped in Erril Street next to Delatite Dental
  • Return – The Bus leaves Erril Street at 11.30am

Bookings are essential and can be made through Customer Service located in the main Shire Office, or by phone on (03) 5775 8555.

Community Bus events

In 2023-24 Council funded additional Community Bus trips to provide access to events through the year‐ we commenced with key Mansfield events:

  • High Country Festival torchlight parade and bush market
  • Christmas Carols
  • Bush markets Australia Day, Easter and Kings Birthday.
  • Anzac Day

The current events are under review to formulate the schedule for 2024-25 and events information will be updated following feedback.

Community Connections Officer

The senior community are being supported by providing the Community Connections Officer until June 2025. This role provides community support and engagement, assists with social connectedness and service access and helps Council monitor the availability and access to services and identify gaps that require advocacy and planning. Tech Help

Need help with Tech issues and advice? Council is supporting the community with one-on-one Tech Help at the library running through to 30 June 2025. Community members can book with an IT specialist to assist them across many areas including:

  • The use of devices such as phones ( Android and iPhone), laptops and tablets
  • Online security tips
  • Emails
  • Government websites and forms

Senior Citizens Group

The Mansfield Senior Citizens group meet weekly at the Youth Centre, 7 Erril St Mansfield.
Tuesdays 10.00 am – 12.30 pm – Carpet Bowls
Thursday 10.00 am – 12.30 pm – Bingo
New members welcome.  

Vulnerable Persons Register 

Council provide support and monitoring for the vulnerable, aged and disabled community members through the vulnerable persons register and health promotional activities. Please contact the Emergency Management Officer on (03) 5775 8558

Mansfield Community Support Register

A community support register is a register of your personal information (mainly contact and medical) which can be used by approved authorities in cases of emergency. The Community Support Register gives you the confidence that if you are unable to provide information (say due to accident or illness) your medical details and who to notify are readily available to relevant authorities.

In a community emergency such as fire, heatwave or flood Partner Agencies may contact registrants. Through the Mansfield Community Support Register, Mansfield Police are working to promote confident, secure and safe living at home.

Registration forms are available at Mansfield Police Station, Mansfield Shire Council, Mansfield District Hospital and below. If you need further information please call on (03) 5775 2555 between 8:30 and 4:30 Monday to Friday if you have any questions or require a registration form.

My Aged Care

If you are 65 years and over and just beginning your aged care journey, this is your first step. You can see what services are available to help you stay in your own home, or what to expect in an aged care home. You can also find out if you are eligible and how much it might cost.

You can access all the information you need to register for My Aged Care by visiting the website My Aged Care or telephone 1800 200 422.

Assessment Service

Since July 1 2024 in the Mansfield Shire Assessment Services are provided by:

  • Aspire 4 Life
  • Gateway Health
  • Nexus Health Care

Allocation for assessment will occur through the My Aged Care portal, by visiting the website My Aged Care or telephone 1800 200 422.

Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP), and the Home and Community Care (HACC) Program for Younger People (PYP)

Mansfield District Hospital is the main provider of CHSP and HACC-PYP services in Mansfield Shire through their Support@Home program

Services that can be provided include:

  • Personal Care
  • Domestic Assistance
  • Home safety and maintenance
  • Transport services provided by volunteers
  • Meals on Wheels
  • Flexible Respite
  • Social Support Groups
