Proposed car park upgrades aimed at improving parking capacity and accessibility in Jamieson township are now open for community feedback.

Council developed the proposal in direct response to feedback from Jamieson Community Group who identified a need for additional and improved parking to better serve residents and visitors.

Council previously sought feedback on these designs but received a limited number of responses. To ensure these changes reflect the needs of the town, we are reopening the consultation process for feedback from Jamieson residents.

Mayor Cr Steve Rabie said Council was committed to getting the outcome right for the township.

“We’ve reopened the consultation because we want to make sure these plans hit the mark. This project was requested by the community, for the community and we want to make sure we can listen and get it right,” said Cr Rabie.

Council’s concept plans include upgrades at four key locations:

Grey Street: (near the Caravan Park): Creation of new compacted gravel parking spaces and installation of new bollards to formalise the area.

Grey Street: (near St Peter's Anglican Church): Construction of two new sealed parking spaces to provide durable, all-weather parking.

Jamieson Island: The existing parking area will be increased in size, with new bollards installed and the existing gate and signage relocated.

Perkins Street: Six new parking spaces will be created and two existing spaces will be converted into dedicated accessible car parks, with a shared access area and a ramp to the footpath.

"We’re grateful to the Jamieson Community Group for their feedback on parking in Jamieson township. Our proposal is based on the group’s local knowledge about what’s best for Jamieson," said Cr Rabie.

"Your feedback is valuable and will help us ensure the final design meets the needs of the community."

Feedback for this engagement closes on 23 December.
