The toilet block on Perkins Street is currently getting a major refurbishment in response to community feedback.

Mansfield Shire Council will spend $210,000 upgrading the public amenities. Prospec Building and Construction has been awarded the contract with works including plumbing, electrical, building, roofing, tiling and painting.

The refurbished toilets will include new stainless-steel toilets and troughs, new cubicles, LED lighting and skylights, new hand dryers, as well as new drainage and flooring. A baby change table will also be installed in the accessible toilet.

Mayor Cr James Tehan said that the works will increase the longevity of the facility.

“Council aims to maintain our public facilities in good order so they can be used by our community and visitors for years to come,” said Cr Tehan.

“This toilet block was showing its age and we listened when the community told us that an upgrade was needed.

“The facility will be lighter, brighter and more modern and the upgrade replaces aged equipment with more robust fittings.”

Prospec Building and Construction Pty Ltd has completed previous toilet works for Parks Victoria and hold the appropriate experience to undertake the current refurbishment. They will be working between 7am – 5pm, Monday-Friday and are expected to complete the project by early August 2022.

The public toilets are located at the intersection of Perkins Street and Brown Street, Jamieson. They are beside the tennis court
