Unleash your feedback: Mansfield's first dedicated dog park

Published on 19 December 2025

Mansfield will soon have its first dedicated, fenced off-leash dog park within the Mansfield Station Precinct.

Council's proposed design aims to create a safe and stimulating environment where dogs of all sizes can exercise, play and socialise freely, while also providing a welcoming space for owners to connect.

The project is a direct response to community feedback calling for a secure, designated space for off-leash exercise.

Mayor Cr Steve Rabie said the proposed off-leash dog park will provide a high-quality facility that caters to everyone.

“We heard loud and clear that our community wanted a safe, fenced space for their dogs. We listened and now we are acting,” said Cr Rabie.

“This proposal will create a purpose-built space with separate areas for small and large dogs, agility equipment for play and plenty of shade and seating for owners.”

The proposed location within the Mansfield Station Precinct was identified in the Masterplan adopted in October 2023, recognising the precinct as a central hub for recreation.

“A dedicated off-leash park provides a secure space that meets the exercise needs of dogs while also protecting other park users and sensitive environmental areas, such as the nearby wetlands,” said Cr Rabie.

Key features of the proposed design include:

  • Secure Fencing: Fully fenced areas for safe off-leash play.
  • Separate Zones: Dedicated areas for small dogs and large dogs to ensure comfortable socialising.
  • Play and Agility: Fun equipment like ramps and rocks to encourage play and exercise.
  • Shade and Comfort: Utilising existing large trees for natural shade, plus seating for owners.
  • Amenities: Water stations for both dogs and owners.
  • Accessibility: Accessible pathways and entry points for all users.

The transformation of the Mansfield Station Precinct is made possible by a $14.1 million grant from the Australian Government’s Regional Precincts and Partnerships Program
