There was roar-some fun at Mansfield Library during the school holidays with interactive performances by Toby the T-Rex from Real Dinosaurs. Toby and his handler entertained 100 children and adults during 3 shows which were put on by Friends of Mansfield Library.

There was much excitement and participation as Toby and his handler encouraged the audience to laugh, dance and roar. Toby showed off by performing tricks and amusing everyone present.

Mayor, Cr Steve Rabie said he was pleased to provide opportunities for fun and excitement to young community members at the Library.

“It is critical that the youngest of our community members have positive associations with the Library.

“We are very grateful to the Friends of the Mansfield Library for their generosity in bringing The Real Dinosaurs to Mansfield.

“The cost of the 3 shows was just shy of $4,000. This is roughly the income made at the Friend’s fundraising shop, ‘The Little Shop of Good Reads’ over 4 months.

“The volunteers invest a significant amount of time and energy in making the shop happen and then they reinvest it in activities like this, which really shows that they support the community in important ways,” he said.

“Everyone should go to the Little Shop of Good Reads and support the shop, knowing that the money you spend there is reinvested straight back into the community.”

Debra Westphalen, Secretary Friends of Mansfield Library, said, “We feel strongly that Mansfield children can enjoy the variety of entertainment offered by metro libraries. We are very happy to support the community in this way.”
