Road Renewal program set to seal the deal on smoother streets

The major road renewal program is set to improve key streets in the Mansfield township, with works scheduled to begin in the first week of December.
The 2025-26 Resealing Program will see resealing and asphalting works carried out on local roads to improve safety and driving conditions. The works are expected to commence on Monday 1 December and take approximately one week to complete, weather permitting.
This stage of improvements follows the recently completed reseal preparation works in October, where potholes and cracks were repaired on Highett Street, Curia Street and the High Street service road. With these base layers now repaired, this final seal will provide a smooth and durable new road surface.
Mayor Cr Steve Rabie said maintaining the local road network was a core Council service and a top priority for the community.
“Keeping our roads safe and well-maintained is one of our most important jobs. This program targets high-traffic areas in the centre of town that are due for an upgrade,” said Cr Rabie.
“This is a wise investment of ratepayer funds into the assets our community uses every day. These works will ensure our key local roads remain in good condition for years to come.”
Reseal works include:
- Curia Street (Apollo St – Ultimo St)
- High Street service road (Ultimo St – Apollo St)
- Highett Street (High St – Hunter St)
Asphalting works include:
- Early St (Highett St – McDonald St)
- Collopy St (Library carpark patching)
Minor delays are expected while the works are underway, with traffic management in place to ensure the safety of both the public and the road crews.
"We are doing our bit to deliver the safe, high-quality roads that our community deserves,” said Cr Rabie.
“Council has also been strongly advocating to the state government to ask that our investment in local roads is matched by improvements to the state-managed roads in the shire. We are listening to community members who contact Council to voice their frustration about deterioration of roads at key intersections with Council roads around Mansfield Shire. If you are concerned about potholes or other areas near state-managed arterial roads that are failing, crumbling and dangerous, please ensure that these are reported to the VicRoads hotline.”
“We are pleased to see some recent improvements completed to state-managed roads at the Chenery St and Mansfield-Woods Point Rd intersections. Council will continue to advocate strongly for the safety of our community.”
The $177,101 contract for Council’s Resealing Program was awarded to Central Vic Stabilising Pty Ltd, funded through Council’s 2025-26 Capital Works budget.
