Since July this year, Council has worked with the Bonnie Doon community to gain ideas and thoughts on the future direction of their town. The resulting draft Bonnie Doon Plan is now available for review and feedback.

Council worked directly with the community on the plan to identify key initiatives for Bonnie Doon, including the future development, character and layout of the town for the next 20 years.

The draft plan includes the following key directions:

  • Improve the pedestrian and bicycle network in Bonnie Doon
  • Activate the entrance to Bonnie Doon through beautification and improved signage
  • Enable residential and tourism development through land rezoning
  • Establish opportunities for the creation of businesses within Bonnie Doon
  • Implement design and character guidelines for future development.

Mayor Cr James Tehan said he was delighted with the response and participation of the Bonnie Doon community during the consultation period.

“Bonnie Doon is a unique town and it’s obvious that the community is passionate about how they want their town to develop,” he said.

“Bonnie Doon has grown exponentially in the last few years and the plan will help ensure Council decisions are in line with Bonnie Doon’s vision for the future.

“Before it is formally endorsed by Council, we want to hear from the community that the plan accurately reflects their vision for the future of their town”.

Council now invites the community to review the plan to ensure it accurately reflects the wants and needs of everyone in Bonnie Doon. Following the review period, the plan will be updated again before it is adopted by Council and formally implemented into the Mansfield Planning Scheme.

Feedback will be accepted until Monday, 30 January 2023.  Visit engage.mansfield.vic.gov.au to view the draft plan and learn more about the project.
