Repairs to our Kerb and Channel Network

Published on 21 September 2022

Streets in selected locations across the Shire are scheduled for maintenance as Council’s annual Kerb and Channel Renewal Program gets underway on 26 September, weather permitting.

Commonly known as roadside “gutters”, the concrete kerb and channels help to direct stormwater runoff from the road into the underground stormwater drainage pipe network.

Areas set to receive attention have been identified through Council’s regular asset inspection program and from community feedback to determine the locations most in need of maintenance.

Local contractor, Jasper Civil, has been engaged to complete the $71,681 project as part of Council’s capital works program.

Mayor Cr James Tehan said Council’s kerb and channel network is an essential part of our asset infrastructure and this is why Council continues to prioritise its upkeep.

“In order to extend the lifespan of our roads, it’s important to make sure our gutter systems are functioning effectively and continue to meet the expectations of our community to provide accessible and safe infrastructure,” he said.

Sections of kerb and channel in the following streets have been scheduled for maintenance in this year’s renewal program:

  • Bon Crescent, Bonnie Doon
  • High Street, Mansfield
  • McDonald Street, Mansfield
  • Rowe Street, Mansfield

Works are expected to be completed by 31 October and will be undertaken in small sections to minimise any disruption.  Access to businesses and premises should not be affected and traffic management will be in place between 7am – 4pm.

If you have any queries regarding these works, please call Council on (03) 5775 8555 or email council@mansfield.vic.gov.au
