Mansfield Shire Council is pleased to announce that Cr Steve Rabie was re-elected as the Mayor of Mansfield Shire at November’s Ordinary Council Meeting held Tuesday 25 November.

Mayor Rabie now begins his third consecutive 12-month term in the role. Over the course of two terms as Mayor, Cr Rabie has established himself as a familiar face at community events and a vocal advocate for the people of Mansfield Shire.

Upon his re-election, Mayor Cr Rabie said that he was humbled to have been named Mayor for a third term.

“I am glad to accept the trust that you have placed in me for another year,” he said. “We will just keep going, serving our community with a keen eye on the finances, making sure we get the best bang for our buck.”

Mayor Rabie will once again be joined by Cr James Tehan who was re-elected as Deputy Mayor at last night’s Mayoral Election.

The second-term councillors will continue to lead their first-term colleagues after a busy first 12 months for the new council. Over the past year the Councillors have delivered multiple projects that strengthen the shire including the improvement of roads, community facilities, recreational spaces and supported initiatives intended to boost tourism and local business.

The Councillors have advocated for the Mansfield Shire Community on a range of matters including proposed state planning reforms and the controversial Emergency Services and Volunteers Fund.

Speaking during the Mayoral Election in Council Chambers at 33 Highett Street, Cr Mandy Treasure thanked the returning Mayor for his guidance during the first 12 months of the four year term they will serve the Mansfield Shire community together.

“I’d like to thank Cr Rabie for his work as Mayor, he has been a very passionate and active Mayor,” she said. “He has led myself and the rest of the council, he has been a wonderful guide and a great support for all of us.”
