The proposed Peppin Point Community Centre is one step closer to becoming reality. Council recently partnered with local community group Peppin Hub Incorporated to appoint an architect to develop designs.

Wurl Architects has been awarded a contract to design the new facility, with the project officially commencing the design phase on 1 September.

The community centre was first proposed by Peppin Hub Incorporated, who successfully secured $75,000 of grant funding from Community Bank Mansfield & District and a $10,000 contribution from Council to develop a design.

Council is also providing the support from its Capital Works team to manage the project and prepare documentation required for planning and building permits.

Mayor Cr Steve Rabie praised the partnership and Peppin Hub Incorporated’s dedication to the initiative.

"This is a great example of a community-led vision taking shape. Peppin Hub Incorporated has done a massive amount of work to get the project to this point and Council is proud to lend its project management experience to help bring their vision to life," said Cr Rabie.

The centre is proposed to be a multi-purpose facility capable of housing a community fire tanker located on Maintongoon Road along Lake Eildon.

Bendigo Bank - Community Bank Mansfield & District Branch Manager Phil Camilleri said, “We are proud to support Peppin Hub’s journey by funding design plans for a self-sufficient community centre and fire tanker shed. It is exciting to see their progress as they work towards a shovel-ready, multifunctional facility for emergencies, health services and community activities.”

The next step in the project will see Wurl Architects develop detailed designs and building plans, which will be reviewed in collaboration with the Peppin Hub Incorporated committee.

“A new, modern community centre will be an incredible asset for the growing Peppin Point community and our wider Shire. It will provide a place for residents to connect and will strengthen our community’s emergency response capabilities,” Cr Rabie added.

"Council looks forward to working together with Peppin Hub Incorporated to help progress the project.”
