Next Stage for Emergency Services Precinct

Published on 21 March 2022

The Mansfield Emergency Services Precinct has progressed, with funds allocated by Mansfield Shire Council for a Precinct Feasibility Study. The study will position Council to secure funding for the precinct and determine the details of the precinct, including design mix and layout options, funding estimates and how it will operate.

Chair of the Mansfield Emergency Precinct Committee, Ellen Hogan, said the committee thanks Council for the allocation of funds to the project.

“The community group expresses its utmost appreciation to Council for its proactive support of this important project,” said Ms Hogan.

“Our emergency services are a critical component of our Shires liveability.

“We’re delighted that the recommendation was supported unanimously and that the project will now progress to the design and business planning stages.”

Council reallocated $45,000 in savings and unspent funds to support the next stage of the project.

Mayor Cr James Tehan said the funding supported the community-driven project.

“There is compelling evidence that supports an Emergency Services Precinct is required in Mansfield to ensure our growing resident and visitor populations aren’t vulnerable in emergencies,” said Cr Tehan.

The former saleyards site on Maroondah Highway was established as the preferred location for the Precinct during the first scoping stage of this project. Planning for Communities consultants were awarded the contract to complete both the Scoping and Feasibility for the Precinct.
