Mansfield Shire Council is celebrating 15 years of the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) L2P Program, a vital community initiative that helps young learner drivers gain the skills and confidence they need to become safe, responsible road users.

Since its launch, the program has supported 114 local learners to achieve their probationary licence - an achievement that reflects increased independence for young people and safer roads for the entire community.

To mark the milestone, there will be a 15th anniversary celebration to recognise the achievements of the learners who have passed through the program and the volunteers and partners who have supported it since its inception. The celebration will also act as an unveiling for Mansfield Shire’s new L2P vehicle.

This celebration will be held on Monday 15 December at 4pm in front of the Council building at 33 Highett St. Community members are welcome to attend.

Mayor Cr Steve Rabie said the program’s success is driven by the dedication and generosity of its volunteer mentors.

“Volunteers are the heart of the Mansfield Shire L2P Program,” he said. “Their time, patience and encouragement make all the difference to young people who may not otherwise have access to supervised driving experience.”

The program continues benefit from strong community partnerships and sponsorship. Patsy from Alpine Driving School is instrumental in preparing our learners for their driving sessions with our volunteer mentors. Mansfield Motor Group, Stik-it Bespoke Design, the Rotary Club of Mansfield and Radio Mansfield generously offer the support the program needs to thrive.

Mansfield Shire Council extends its sincere thanks to all volunteers, partners and supporters who have contributed to 15 successful years of helping young people gain the skills they need for safe, confident driving.
