The 2026 Mansfield Hunting & Fishing Expo was once again a resounding success, with early estimates indicating more than 18,000 people attended the one-day outdoor extravaganza.
Delivered in a partnership between Mansfield Shire Council and Mansfield Hunting & Fishing, the Expo transformed High Street into a vibrant hub in which thousands of outdoor enthusiasts, industry experts and families mingled, sharing their passion for the great outdoors.
Attendees enjoyed live chef demonstrations and expert talks, explored more than 120 stalls and experienced a wide range of interactive activations celebrating hunting, fishing and the broader outdoor lifestyle.
Free shuttle services operated by Mansfield Mt Buller Bus Lines ensured visitors could easily access the event and move around town, contributing to the smooth delivery of the day.
Mayor Steve Rabie said the Expo demonstrated what can be achieved through strong local partnerships and shared vision.
“To see more than 18,000 people attend this year’s Mansfield Hunting & Fishing Expo is an outstanding result for our community,” Mayor Cr Rabie said.
“When the team at Mansfield Hunting & Fishing first approached Council in 2024 with the idea of creating a major outdoor expo, we recognised its potential to showcase our region and support local businesses. We were proud to back that vision from the outset, and the results speak for themselves.”
“This event not only celebrates our outdoor lifestyle, it delivers real economic benefit to our township which is much needed after the recent bushfires. It also strongly reinforces Mansfield Shire’s reputation as a premier destination for hunting, fishing and adventure.”
Mansfield Hunting & Fishing Director Mandy Kirley said the 2026 event exceeded expectations.
“The support from Council since we first shared the concept in 2024 has been incredible,” Ms Kirley said.
“What started as an idea to bring the outdoor community together has grown into a major regional event. Seeing 18,000 people through the gates, over 120 stallholders on site, and such a positive response from visitors and locals alike was truly rewarding.”
“The atmosphere on the day was fantastic. It was family-friendly, professionally run and full of energy. We’re so grateful to our MHF Team, exhibitors, sponsors and the Mansfield community for embracing it so wholeheartedly.”
While the Expo remained the centrepiece of the weekend, it also anchored a brand new broader three-day experience facilitated by Council. Festivities began on Friday evening with the sold-out ‘Are You Game?’ dinner presented by Swiftcrest Distillery and local chef Cody Louis, setting the tone for the weekend ahead.
On Sunday, visitors were encouraged to extend their stay through the ‘Find Your Wild’ program, with bookable experiences offered by local operators including guided fly fishing, bushwalks and four-wheel driving adventures, further showcasing the depth of Mansfield Shire’s outdoor offering.
A biennial highlight on the region’s events calendar, the Mansfield Hunting & Fishing Expo has now firmly established itself as a staple celebration of outdoor culture and community. With its strong attendance, economic impact and enthusiastic local support, Council and event partners have confirmed the Expo will return every two years. Planning is already underway for 2028.
