Pet registration renewals are once again due in Mansfield Shire with renewal notices on their way out to residents and ratepayers in the coming days.

All dogs and cats over three months of age must be registered with Council. This is a requirement under the Domestic Animals Act 1994. Owners who do not pay by the due date can be fined up to $407.

Pet owners who have dogs and cats being registered for the first time must arrange for their pets to be microchipped. This statewide regulation also applies to previously registered dogs and cats that move into Mansfield Shire from another municipality.

Mayor Cr Steve Rabie strongly encourages pet owners to get their registrations up to date.

“We’ve also made it as easy as possible to register your animal. Forms are available in person at Council’s offices or on Council’s website,” said Mayor Cr Rabie

“All cats and dogs have to be microchipped and registered, including farm working dogs. It’s a legal requirement and it means we’re able to reunite you with your pets if they get lost.”

If you have questions or concerns regarding pet registration, please contact Council on 5775 8555.
