Mansfield Shire Youth announce Winter School Holiday Program

Mansfield Shire Youth has announced its program for the winter school holidays with a packed schedule of activities picked for young people by young people.
Running from 29 June to 10 July, the program has been shaped through community feedback and youth surveys, ensuring it offers something for everyone.
From creative arts and life skills workshops to cooking classes and exciting excursions, the school holiday program continues to provide opportunities for young people (12+) to learn new skills, make friends and have fun close to home.
The winter program includes:
- A painting workshop led by artist Sammy Trist
- Crochet workshops from local resident Larissa Napora
- Pyrography workshops from Iluka Sax-Williams
- Chop and Chat cooking classes focused on cuisines from around the globe
- A practical financial skills workshop delivered in partnership with Proactive Tax
Mayor Cr Steve Rabie, who considers cooking to be one of life’s enjoyments, is pleased Council is presenting opportunities for young people to pick up practical life skills.
“Learning how to cook and how to deal with the reality of finances are important lessons to learn on the way to independence,” said Cr Rabie.
“Council is pleased to be able to offer the opportunity for young people to learn these skills, as well as the chance for a lot of fun, through the Mansfield Shire Youth school holiday program.”
Mansfield Shire Youth’s Amplify Committee will also host a retro ‘Back to the 80s’ music event and one of the biggest highlights of the program will see participants jump on the bus and head to Myrtleford Buffalo Boulders for a day of indoor rock climbing and adventure.
Week two coincides with the 50th anniversary of NAIDOC Week, with several activities celebrating Aboriginal culture and creativity.
