The new Mansfield Historical Museum will receive a $60,000 contribution from Council for its interior fit-out design, funded through Emergency Recovery Victoria’s Council Assistance Grant.

The museum’s development is a collaboration with the Mansfield Historical Society (MHS), Mansfield Cultural Heritage & Arts Centre (MCHAC) and Bendigo Bank, who came together with the idea of creating a museum to showcase Mansfield’s historical collection.

The interior fit-out is proposed to feature museum quality lighting and display cabinetries.

Mayor Cr James Tehan said he is excited to see this project coming together and is grateful to the MHS, MCHAC and Bendigo Bank for their initiative, hard work and dedication to bringing this project to life

“This funding will enable the museum project team to progress the design for the museum fit-out to enable display of its collection of memorabilia and artefacts currently in storage, in a well-designed setting.

“Once completed, it will provide locals and visitors with an exceptional viewing experience and the opportunity to learn about the historical significance of the collection.

“The Council Assistance Grant has been used to boost Mansfield’s tourism offerings and the new museum will be a key element in the further development of the station precinct,” he said.

Design of the new museum’s fit-out will commence following an open tender process.

The Mansfield Historical Museum will be located at Mansfield Station Precinct.
