Inaugural meeting for Friends of Mansfield Botanic Park
Published on 21 November 2025
The Friends of the Mansfield Botanic Park will meet for their very first meeting on Wednesday 3 December. Mansfield Shire Community members with a green thumb are encouraged to come along and join a passionate group of volunteers as they keep a beloved community asset at its very best.
Rowena Ellis, Friend of the Mansfield Botanic Park, says the group wants to help the Mansfield Shire community fall in love with gardening and nature.
“It’s all about connecting people to nature through gardening at the Mansfield Botanic Park,” she said.
The group currently consists of seven dedicated volunteers and they hope their enthusiasm will rub off on the community and result in the Friends of the Mansfield Botanic Park growing over time.
They have already made a large impact with the revitalisation of the vegetable garden area. The upgraded space is now being enjoyed by the wider park community, with excess produce also being supplied to the Respond program. The group has additionally formed a collaboration with Yooralla, who are currently assisting by growing vegetable seedlings.
Mayor Cr Steve Rabie is excited to see the new group establish itself within the community.
“It’s fantastic to see passionate members of our community coming together to care for such a cherished local space,” he said.
“The dedication of those involved is wonderful and I have no doubt the group will go from strength to strength, growing in both members and achievements over time.”
The group will meet at the Community Garden beds at 8.30am on the first Wednesday of each month on an ongoing basis.
