Mansfield Shire Council is pleased to announce the completion of Stage 2 of the Howqua Pathway project.

The project, which aims to deliver a safer and more accessible walking and cycling connection for the community, was undertaken in response to community requests for an improved all-weather pathway that enhances connectivity for both residents and visitors.

Mayor Cr Steve Rabie said the project builds on the success of Stage 1 and continues Council’s commitment to working with the community to improve infrastructure in the shire.

“The completion of Stage 2 of the Howqua Pathway is a fantastic outcome,” he said.

“We were delighted to be able to work closely with the Howqua and Macs Cove community group who advocated to Council for the pathway project. It’s another great example of what happens when Council and the community work together.”

“This upgraded pathway provides a safer and more enjoyable experience for pedestrians and cyclists, while also improving accessibility and encouraging more people to enjoy the natural beauty of the area.”

Importantly, the project was delivered with minimal environmental impact, with no vegetation or tree removal required and no disturbance to surrounding roots or the natural landscape.

“Council worked with the community group to ensure the pathway enhancements were delivered sensitively and sustainably, preserving the environmental values that make the Howqua area so special,” Mayor Cr Rabie said.

Council would also like to acknowledge and thank Nick Hyslop and other community members for their assistance with this project, including supporting the subcontractor and helping to clear the pathway.
