Council is calling for community input to help develop a new Tracks and Trails Strategy aimed at enhancing recreational opportunities and connectivity across the region.

The strategy will cover Mansfield Shire and the Mt Buller – Mt Stirling Alpine Resorts. It will assess gaps in the existing trail network and ensure the region’s tracks and trails offer a range of fun and accessible experiences for all.

Mayor Cr Steve Rabie emphasised the importance of community participation in shaping the strategy.

“The Tracks and Trails Strategy aims to build recreation and tourism opportunities in our beautiful Shire by creating a more connected, more accessible network," said Cr Rabie.

"We want our tracks and trails to truly live up to the needs and interests of our community. That’s why we’re listening and inviting all our community to contribute ideas and suggestions,” he said.

Residents, local businesses and stakeholder groups are invited to participate in online workshops and an online survey available on Engage Mansfield. Drop-in sessions are scheduled for 28 June from 8.30am–1pm at the Mansfield Farmer’s Market on High Street and for 8 July from 10am–2pm at the Visitor Information Centre.

By incorporating feedback from the community, the strategy will guide Council in creating and maintaining accessible tracks and trails that cater to a broad spectrum of users from avid mountain bikers, hikers and horse riders to families and individuals with mobility challenges.
