Have Your Say on Mansfield Shire’s Asset Plan

Published on 02 February 2024

With over $250 million worth of infrastructure and other assets to maintain, Council is inviting feedback on the Asset Plan and Road Management Plan until 8 March 2024.

The Asset Plan determines how infrastructure assets including local roads, pathways, bridges and culverts, stormwater drainage, buildings and open space assets, such as playgrounds, and sportsgrounds are managed and renewed. The Asset Plan was first adopted in 2022 and sets out Council’s priorities and approach to maintaining assets so that they continue to meet the community’s needs.

The Road Management Plan sets the standard of maintenance for Council-managed roads, including the frequency of inspections and the response to defects. It does not cover arterial roads managed by the Department of Transport and Planning, such as Maroondah Highway, Midland Highway, Mt Buller Road and Mansfield-Woods Point Road.

Both Plans are now being reviewed and updated as part of the 2024-25 budget process.

Mayor Cr Steve Rabie encouraged community members to get involved and give feedback.

“This is an opportunity to have your say on how our assets and infrastructure are managed and maintained,” he said.

“We have listened to the feedback from community on the need for improved road conditions.

“Council has invested a significant amount in improving local roads that are under Council’s management.

“Your feedback on Plans like these helps us to deliver the quality roads and assets our community expects,” he said.

Council has been receiving feedback on the Plans from community members through hosting deliberative workshops and an online survey which commenced in November 2023.

The online survey will remain open until 8 March 2024. To share your ideas and provide feedback, visit engage.mansfield.vic.gov.au.

Council is also hosting another community workshop from 4:30pm to 6:00pm on Wednesday 14 February 2024, to be held in the Council Chambers at 33 Highett Street, Mansfield. Members of the public can join either in person or online.

To register for the workshop or for any other enquiries, contact Council at council@mansfield.vic.gov.au or on (03) 5775 8555.
