Free Antenatal classes for Mansfield families
Published on 13 February 2026
There’s good news on the way for growing Mansfield families, with free antenatal classes launching locally as part of a new pilot program designed to support parents from pregnancy through to early parenthood.
Led by Mansfield Shire Council’s Maternal and Child Health team, the initiative brings together Mansfield District Hospital, Central General Practice, Mansfield Medical Centre and the Mansfield Dads Group to deliver coordinated, community-based support for local families.
The classes will offer practical guidance on pregnancy, labour and birth, infant feeding and emotional wellbeing, while creating space for parents to ask questions, build confidence and meet others on the same journey. For many, it’s just as much about connection as it is about information.
Mayor Cr Steve Rabie is pleased young families in Mansfield can access this important service without leaving the shire.
“Until now, Mansfield parents often had to travel outside the district to access antenatal education or join online classes,” he said.
“Bringing the program back locally removes that extra hurdle and ensures families can access trusted support without leaving town.”
“The return of antenatal classes reflects Mansfield Shire Council’s strong community focus and a shared commitment to giving Mansfield families the best possible start in life.”
