Works on the gravel footpath and addressing identified defects will be completed at the Goughs Bay foreshore and Botanic Park over a six-week period.

Commencing the week of 28 August, works will include improved side drainage, erosion control, path lifting, gravel resheeting and culvert reinstatement. Expected completion is Friday 6 October, weather permitting.

Mayor Cr James Tehan said he is happy to see these improvements.

“Council are committed to improving the existing footpath and expand the footpath network around the shire,” he said.

“These works will improve the current surface condition and protect it from future flood events.”

RBR Civil and Hire Pty Ltd have been engaged to complete the works.

Sections of the Great Victorian Rail trail are also set to be renewed following flood damage from heavy rainfall and sections may need to be closed progressively with detours in place as required to ensure public safety.

Detours will be in place for sections at Goughs Bay and Botanic Park.

Traffic management will be in place, and people are advised to please follow any signage and travel safely when in the area.
