Members of the community are invited to provide feedback on the draft Climate Action Plan.

The Plan outlines ways Council can reduce its carbon emissions in an achievable, affordable and practical way and identifies the role Council can play in supporting community climate action.

The Plan addresses the main climate change priorities that were identified during an extensive community consultation process in 2021. Climate Change experts, Ironbark Sustainability, worked with the community and Council to develop the plan which is tailored specifically to the needs of our Shire.

Mayor Cr James Tehan said the environment was a priority for our community, which was made clear in the Community Vision 2040.

“We wanted hear from the community to identify ways to address climate variability and to tell us what initiatives they would or would not support. This helped guide us on the plan development,” he said.

“The plan also outlines how Council can encourage and support our community to make reductions to their own footprints.

“It’s now time to see if we have got it right for our community and be certain the plan reflects our community’s priorities.”
