As major facility upgrades are set to get underway at Lords Reserve, Council is now calling for community support for new LED lighting at the ground. Council is now applying to the 2025-26 Country Football and Netball Program to fund a new lighting system to allow for night-time play and training. Mayor Cr Steve Rabie said it would be more likely that Council can secure funding if it can show strong community support for the upgrade.
"We know that our local clubs are growing, and the demand for training and playing space is increasing, particularly in the evenings," he said.
"New, modern lighting at Lords Reserve will be a game-changer, especially for our women's and junior football teams using evening time slots,” said Cr Rabie.
Council has been working with a professional lighting contractor to plan a modern LED system. The design will ensure the oval receives adequate light for play and practice while being carefully designed to avoid light spill and minimise impacts on nearby houses. "Many funding programs preference projects that can demonstrate strong community need and support. That's why we are asking our community to hop online and contribute their comments to support our application," Cr Rabie said.
Community members can contribute comments and feedback to support the funding application by leaving a comment online via Engage Mansfield or by writing to Council directly.
