Community Forums for Recycling and Waste Services in Mansfield Shire

Published on 01 July 2022

Mansfield Shire Council will hold community forums to seek community input about planned changes to the Shire’s recycling and waste services.

From July 2024, Mansfield Shire Council will need to meet new legislative requirements for the separation of waste set by the Victorian Government’s Circular Economy Plan. This will involve the introduction of a separate glass collection service and a food and organic waste service in addition to landfill and recycling waste collections.

Mayor Cr James Tehan said feedback from the community was critical for Council to determine how waste services should be delivered to meet the new requirements.

“Each location and town will have different needs and preferences for how waste and recycling are managed in the Shire, from the method of collection, the frequency of pickups and the timing of when the proposed changes should occur,” said Cr Tehan.

“These decisions impact the lives of every community member, and we want to collaborate with the community to ensure the solution fits our needs.

“Help shape the future of waste and recycling in Mansfield Shire and sign up for one of these forums or contribute to our online engagement.”
