Christmas set to arrive on Mansfield’s alpine approaches
Published on 05 December 2025
Mansfield Shire’s alpine approaches are set to be brightened for Christmas thanks to a festive community project.
The Men’s Shed produced three large signs which were then painted by students from Mansfield Primary School, Mansfield Rudolf Steiner School and MASS. The colourful signs will be visible on Mansfield-Whitfield Road, the Midland Highway and the Maroondah Highway throughout December and will wish everyone, residents and guests, a very merry Christmas over the festive period.
Mayor Cr Steve Rabie is pleased to see the community come together and create something that will bring festive spirit to the alpine approaches and hopefully put a smile on the faces of both residents and visitors through the Christmas period.
“My thanks to the Men’s Shed volunteers for their craftsmanship and to the students for their creativity and enthusiasm,” he said.
“This project is a great example of our community working together. The Men’s Shed and local students have created something special that will bring joy to one of Mansfield Shire’s most treasured and beloved assets, the alpine approaches, this Christmas.”
Chris Rath, President of the Mansfield Men’s Shed was pleased the Men’s Shed got the chance to work with local school kids on a project that the whole community can enjoy.
“The shire, the shed and the kids came together for a project with a fantastic benefit for the community. It was an amazing effort from everyone involved. We hope the whole community enjoys it.”
Mayor Cr Rabie is hoping the project proves to be a success and that it grows year on year. With more signs created and the involvement of school children from the schools in our outlying communities.
“But for now,” he said, “Thank you to all of those involved in the creation of this wonderful project, merry Christmas to all and to all a good sign.”
