A full range of events to celebrate Seniors Festival has been developed thanks to a grant from the Victorian Seniors Festival and funds held over from last year’s event that was cancelled due to COVID restrictions.
Funding of $6,700 has enabled Council’s Community Health and Wellbeing and Tourism and Events teams to partner in presenting a range of activities between 3 – 7 October to celebrate Seniors Festival 2022. The funding enables Council to cover the cost of most of the events and to subsidise others so that they are affordable for everyone to participate.
The line-up of events and activities consists of painting workshops, Pilates, yoga and movies through to morning teas and bushwalks. A highlight of the week will be the Seniors Ball at the Mansfield Golf Club on Thursday 6 October. This will include a 2-course meal, live music, and dancing for just $10 per person.
Mayor Cr James Tehan said continuing to provide a stimulating program of events with opportunities for social interaction for our senior population ensures they remain active and engaged.
“Our seniors are vibrant, active and a huge part of the fabric of Mansfield,” he said.
“Council is happy to be able to offer this line up of events which are affordable, accessible and most of all, a lot of fun.”
Places are limited and bookings are essential. Full details are available on Council’s website mansfield.vic.gov.au or you can discuss the program in more detail with staff at the Visitor Information Centre on 5775 7000 between 10am and 4pm.
