Council’s 2025-26 Resheeting Program has commenced, delivering upgrades to over 21 kilometres of unsealed gravel roads across the shire.

Mayor Cr Steve Rabie said the annual program is important for maintaining and improving the network of local roads.

"Our unsealed roads are vital for our outlying communities. It’s one of our top priorities to make sure they stay safe and reliable," said Cr Rabie.

"The Resheeting Program supports our many different road users, from the school buses to agricultural businesses," he said.

This year Council will undertake the whole program in-house as a cost-saving measure. Council crews will add a new layer of crushed rock to the road surface, which is then compacted and shaped. Works will also include drainage improvements where required to enhance the longevity of the road surface.

The 2025-26 program will include works on priority sections of the following roads that have deteriorated due to weather and traffic:

  • Kidston Parade
  • Aldous Road
  • Cambatong Road
  • Desmonds Road
  • Long Lane
  • Dry Creek Road
  • Merton-Strathbogie Road
  • Sonnberg Drive
  • Spring Creek Road
  • Woolshed Road

Roads will remain open during works with traffic management in place.
