16 new Australians sworn in at citizenship ceremony

Mansfield Shire Council welcomed 16 new Australians at a citizenship ceremony held in Council Chambers on Tuesday 21 April. 

The new citizens represent a diverse range of backgrounds, with people originating from the United Kingdom, Peoples Republic of China, Taiwan, New Zealand, South Africa, Philippines and Laos.  

Mayor Cr Steve Rabie, officiating the ceremony in front of a crowded room of new citizens and their families, highlighted how special a day it was for those in attendance. 

“Today marks a special and important step in your lives because today you become Australian Citizens” he said. 

“I congratulate you for the commitment you have made to being a part of Australia’s future.” 

“Becoming an Australian Citizen shows loyalty to Australia and the desire to share a common future. It is an honour to confer Australian citizenship to people who appreciate and value our society so they that they wish to make Australia their home.” 

Mansfield Shire Council extends its congratulations to all new citizens and warmly welcomes them as valued members of our multicultural community.
