Mansfield Shire Council would like to extend its thanks to Rob Gordon and Anne Leadbeater for providing their time and expert knowledge at the Recovering Together Session which was held at the Merton Hall on Sunday 22 February.
During the workshop, Rob and Anne spoke about the emotional and social impacts disasters can have on individuals and communities, and shared practical advice and strategies to help people manage the challenges that can arise during recovery.
“We’re grateful to experts like Rob Gordon and Anne Leadbeater, who bring not only deep knowledge but deep compassion. Their guidance helps us understand the emotional toll disasters take and how we can best support one another,” said Mayor Cr Steve Rabie.
The event provided a welcoming space for local residents to connect, share experiences and learn more about how communities can support one another through difficult times.
Funding for the workshop was provided by the Victorian Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, while catering was generously supported by National Australia Bank in Mansfield. Members of Rotary International also contributed on the day by providing a community BBQ.
“The event was about taking a step towards healing, connection, and giving our community the tools to move forward together, we’re very pleased it was so well received,” said Mayor Cr Steve Rabie.
Events like the Recovering Together Session play an important role in strengthening community resilience and ensuring people have access to the information, support and connections they need as recovery continues.
