The Barwitian Garden is a natural, wild perennial based garden that Garden Designer, Ralph Bristow has created and maintains. It celebrates what plants give to us, the soil and the fauna. It covers approximately 3 acres set in Barwite, on the Broken River, near Mansfield, North East Victoria. This year the garden will be shown in its Autumnal phase, articulating the inspiring range of colours, textures, flowers found in this season, which is very distinct in comparison to the other seasons.

It will sear the senses and elicit sheer joy. There are thousands of plants, mainly perennials as well as interesting woody plants, shrubs and trees. A bulb layer is going to be added in the near future. The garden is a living experiment, an evolving, ever-changing alchemy of plants, colour, art, life and the landscape that all coalesce with distinct seasonal changes. Ralph's approach is spontaneous and considered, anchored in his deep love and connection for all things plants and environmental.

This garden celebrates a naturalistic style of plantings with an amazing collection of flowering perennials for all seasons.

Antique Perennials will have a stall for plant sales.

Parking: There is parking in the paddock, approximately 400 metres walk to the garden. There is also limited parking near house, plus coach access a short walk from the garden.

Some of the proceeds from this opening will be donated to the Bob Brown Foundation.

The Barwitian Garden is located on the lands of the Taungurung people. Open Gardens Victoria wish to acknowledge the Traditional custodians of this land and we pay respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
