Works on the Malcolm Street shared path have recommenced, with the second stage of the works having been delayed avoiding the winter weather and soft ground conditions.

The contractor Ground Technique Pty Ltd will undertake the works following the completion of concrete footpath widening on a section of Malcolm Street in the middle of the year.

The works on Malcolm Street between Kidston Parade and Ultimo Street resumed on October 16 and have been estimated to take 6 weeks to complete through October and November, weather permitting.

Mayor Cr James Tehan said he is looking forward to seeing the second stage of these works completed as this path has been long sought after by the community.

“Council is committed to keeping these works progressing, alongside other priority paths identified within our Footpath and Shared Path Strategy for townships across our Shire, released last year after community consultation.”

“We understand the importance of safe walking and cycling paths in helping to improve access for community members of all ages. Progress updates will be provided to the local community as the works proceed.”

This project is jointly funded by Council and the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) through the TAC Local Government Grant Program. The cost of these works is $181,164.09 (excl GST).
