Council Adopts Financial Plan 2021-2031

Published on 22 October 2021

Council has adopted its Financial Plan 2021-2031. The plan ensures Mansfield Shire Council is in a strong position to meet community needs and provide community services well into the future.

For the first time, Councils were required to prepare and adopt a Financial Plan for a period of at least 10 years under the Local Government Act 2020.

The plan offers a framework for Council to make longer-term financial decisions, including borrowing levels, use of financial reserves, capital investments and the provision of services. It will be reviewed every year as part of annual budget preparations.

Mayor Cr Mark Holcombe said Council was committed to creating a stable and sustainable financial environment.

“This is a solid Financial Plan that will allow Council to continue to provide strong community services without significant change to future income requirements,” said Cr Holcombe.

“We will continue to face challenges that require strong financial leadership. This plan ensures we have the continued capacity to meet community expectations.”

Over the term of the Financial Plan, Council will invest $65 million in capital works while maintaining a minimum cash balance of $4.1 million.
