Ashes Interments

You can contact us directly to arrange an ashes interment.

You may choose to use a funeral director to conduct a service, but it's not necessary.

How to apply

Step 1.Contact us

Learn more, check availability, and discuss arrangements.

Step 2.Submit an application

  1. Application for right of interment
  2. Application for approval to inter cremated human remains
  3. Memorial plaque order

If a right of interment already exists, an application for right of interment is not required.

For interments into monumental graves, a memorial plaque order is not required.

Step 3.Receive confirmation

We'll process your application, confirm arrangements for the interment, and send an invoice.

For niche wall interments, we'll confirm arrangements after receiving the memorial plaque.

Step 4.Inter the ashes

We'll meet you at the cemetery to inter the remains.

If you've arranged for the interment to take place in your absence, our staff will inter the remains.

Further information

Our standard days for ashes interments are Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.

We may be able to accommodate weekends, public holidays, or times outside those below at an additional cost. Please contact us to discuss your preferred arrangement.

Our hours differ for bodily burials.

Grave digging and refill

For interments into graves, our staff will dig the grave shortly before the interment, and refill it immediately after attendees have left.

Niche opening and sealing

For interments into niche walls, our staff will break open the niche or remove the existing plaque shortly before the interment, and affix the plaque immediately after attendees have left, sealing the niche.

Monument re-opening

For interments in graves that already have a monument, the ledger or cover will need to be removed to access the grave.

Our staff can remove and reinstall the ledger, but are not fully trained and equipped professionals. We take all care in handling ledgers, but do not accept responsibility for damage during the re-opening.

We can arrange for a monumental mason to re-open the monument, at an additional cost.

Wet weather

Mansfield, Bonnie Doone, and Jamieson cemeteries have small permanent shelters on-site.

Graveside shelter

We don't have temporary shelter that can be placed immediately around the place of interment.
