Council is committed to promoting workplace gender equality and driving progress in gender equality by reducing inequality and discrimination through promoting gender equality including increasing awareness of intersectionality with the Mansfield Shire community and Council’s own culturally diverse workforce.

Under the Gender Equality Act 2020, Council must take positive action to improve workplace gender equality. This includes Council:
• undertaking a workplace gender audit every two years
• preparing a four-year Gender Equality Action Plan (GEAP) based on the audit.
• reporting on our progress to the Commission for Gender Equality in the Public Sector
• completing gender impact assessments on policies, programs and services that have a direct and significant impact on the community
Gender Equality Action Plan 2026–2030
Council’s Gender Equality Action Plan sets out what Council will do to make the workplace fairer over the next four years. The Commission for Gender Equality in the Public Sector has assessed Council’s plan as compliant with the Gender Equality Act 2020.
Gender Equality Action Plan Progress Report
Council’s 2026 progress report shows what was achieved under Council’s first Gender Equality Action Plan (2021–2025) with the next progress report due in 2028.
