Waste & Recycling Bin Upgrade Project
Mansfield Shire Council is excited to celebrate the Public Bin Upgrade Project which has been a multi-year strategic project designed to achieve the following outcomes:
- Reduce contamination of refuse and recycling waste in public bin infrastructure.
- Provide for more public bins for community and visitor convenience.
- Reduce the onset of illegal dumping of waste.
- Increase the capacity of the bins to gain greater efficiency in collection by our contractors.
- Celebrate the local identity of the Mansfield Shire.
The new style public bins have increased in general from the existing 120L bin capacity to a 240L capacity thus increasing the volume of waste the new public bins can store by 100%. Bins are a solid stainless steel construction mounted professionally on existing or new concrete surfaces. The artwork surrounding the new bins has been kindly provided by the community celebrating both the scenic appeal and beauty of our Shire, as well as the rich heritage of the area. Responsible photographers are all local who have kindly submitted their photos for inclusion. Successful photos have been selected by our Councillors on behalf of the community.
The previous public bins will not go to waste. All older bins removed as part of this project are currently in the process of being refurbished so that they can be re-issued into other areas across our Shire who need it. There has already been interest shown by several community groups seeking additional bins in their preferred locations.
Many thanks to those photographers who have submitted their beautiful photos and look out for more public bins being installed over the coming years. Further opportunities to submit photos for future bin upgrade stages will be advertised to the community to contribute into this exciting project. In the meantime, enjoy reviewing the current photos and their location, and most importantly our responsible photographers!”
