About Maternal and Child Health
The Victorian MCH Service provides parents and families with support, advice and information about child and family health, while monitoring the growth, health, development and behaviour of children from birth to six years of age.
The service provides a comprehensive and focused approach to promoting the physical, emotional and social health and wellbeing of children and families within the community. Maternal and Child Health Nurses (MCHNs) are Registered Nurses and Midwives with additional qualifications in Maternal and Child Health. They have specialised knowledge and experience in supporting families with child and family health issues and concerns.
About the Scholarship
The MCH Nurse Scholarship Program provides financial assistance of up to $8,000 to an eligible Registered Nurse and Midwife undertaking an approved Graduate Diploma qualification leading to registration as a Maternal and Child Health Nurse in Victoria.
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must:
• Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
• Reside within Mansfield Shire or a surrounding municipality.
• Hold current registration as a Registered Nurse and Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) and provide evidence of a current practising certificate.
• Have a minimum of five years' combined nursing and midwifery experience.
• Be enrolled in one of the approved Graduate Diploma of Maternal and Child Health courses outlined in the relevant scholarship guidelines.
• Complete the approved course of study within a maximum period of two years.
• Where a suitable position is available, be willing to accept employment with Mansfield Shire Council under the Victorian Maternal and Child Health Nurse Scholarship (VMCHNS) employment model following completion of 150 hours of clinical experience within the MCH program and the required theoretical content supporting Universal MCH nursing practice.
The scholarship is available to applicants who have already commenced their course of study. Students currently receiving funding from another scholarship are also eligible to apply.
