Mansfield Shire is set to come alive this August with Winter Beats, a new free to attend live music series, set to showcase local talent in venues across the shire.

Winter Beats will see musicians, many of them local, taking to the stage at pubs, breweries and restaurants across the shire giving residents and visitors another reason to rug up, head out and support local business through winter nights.

Mayor Cr Steve Rabie said Winter Beats is about celebrating local talent and giving our community something new to look forward to on the cold nights of winter.

"Winter Beats is a great chance to get behind some of our local musicians and support our local venues," Cr Rabie said.

"It's been a tough year for a lot of our community and events like this give people a reason to come together and catch up. We hope you find the time to enjoy a night or two of live music close to home."

The following artists will kick off the first two weeks of events:

Geoff Wright – Anvil, Friday 7 August
An acoustic singer and guitarist from Victoria, Geoff brings a mix of classic favourites and modern hits to every performance.

Abby Wettenhall – Buller Road Brewery, Friday 14 August
Born and raised in Mansfield, 21-year-old Abby plays a mix of indie and folk, drawing on classics, her favourite small artists and the occasional original.

Reily Schelfhout – Buller Road Brewery, Friday 14 August
A 16-year-old independent singer-songwriter born and raised in the Mansfield Shire, Reily blends contemporary country and folk with a voice beyond his years.

Marty Jones – Jamieson Brewery, Saturday 15 August

A local legend with more than 35 years in the music game, Marty brings expertise across genres including pop, blues, southern gospel and rock.

The Winter Beats events are part of a broader Winter Festival across Mansfield Shire and Mt Buller, a bushfire recovery initiative designed to support fire-impacted businesses, stimulate the local economy and bring the community together for a good time.
