Township sealing works completed across Mansfield Shire

Residents of three Mansfield Shire streets can expect less dust and reliable access in wet weather, with sealing works now complete on Church Street and New Street in Mansfield and Glen Creek Road in Bonnie Doon.

The roads were sealed under Council's annual Township Sealing Program, which targets priority  unsealed roads in township areas. Locations are chosen on the basis of road condition, traffic use, drainage challenges and community need.

Community feedback received through Council’s budget consultation process and maintenance requests identified these roads as priorities for improvement.

Mayor Cr Steve Rabie said the upgrades will provide long-term benefits for residents and road users.

“We’re pleased to continue to deliver on improvements to our roads that will have a lasting impact. Sealing these roads will improve safety, reduce dust and gravel loss,” he said.

“As well as improved all-weather access for residents, Council will be able to reduce the maintenance costs associated with unsealed roads. That’s the kind of bang for ratepayer buck we are committed to achieving for the Mansfield Shire community.”

The works covered Church Street and New Street in Mansfield and approximately 1.9 km of Glen Creek Road in Bonnie Doon. They included pavement preparation, sealing and targeted drainage upgrades to manage stormwater and extend the service life of the roads. Council awarded a $302,546 contract to Central Vic Stabilising Pty Ltd to deliver the project.

Council’s Township Sealing Program is delivered annually, with future locations identified through ongoing assessment of the road network, community feedback and available resources.
