A new booklet, designed to help seniors make the most of life in Mansfield Shire by connecting them with local groups, services and activities, is now available.

Ageing Well in Mansfield Shire, developed by the Mansfield Social Inclusion Action Group, brings together information on everything from markets and meal delivery to active groups, learning opportunities and health support.

Designed for residents aged 55+, the guide reflects the needs of a growing section of the community. Data from the 2021 Census shows Mansfield Shire's population skews older than the regional Victorian average, with those aged 70 to 84 the fastest growing age bracket in the Shire.

Mayor Cr Steve Rabie said the guide was about giving Mansfield Shire seniors confidence in knowing where to go for support.

“This guide brings together the groups and services already the doing brilliant work in the best little shire that makes it the best place to live. From Parkrun to pickleball, whether you're looking to join a walking group, for help with technology or support with health, it's here in one place," said Mayor Rabie.

The guide covers five key areas: healthy eating, active living, lifelong learning, social connection and mental health and wellbeing. It also includes practical information on transport options, the Community Support Register and how to access My Aged Care through the local Care Finder service.

Copies of the guide are available on Council's website (www.mansfield.vic.gov.au/community/residents/seniors) or for collection in person from Mansfield Shire Council's Highett Street office, the Mansfield Library, local healthcare providers and a range of other community locations across the Shire.

Residents can also contact Council's Community Connections Officer on (03) 5775 8515 for a copy or to talk through what support might suit them best.
