The small grants that make a big difference in Mansfield Shire are returning in 2026-27 with the latest funding round of the Mansfield Shire Council Outlying Communities Infrastructure Fund (OCIF).

Community groups can apply for up to $15,000 to support local infrastructure projects, with the 2026-27 Outlying Communities Infrastructure Fund opening from 27 July to 12 October 2026.

This grant supports outlying communities to develop or improve facilities that boost liveability, resilience and connectivity across the shire. Each community group can apply for up to $15,000 from a total funding pool of $60,000.

Mayor Cr Steve Rabie said the $60,000 Council allocated to outlying communities through this grant goes a long way and delivers positive outcomes throughout the shire.

"It is remarkable to see community groups getting involved to add to the quality of life in their shire," he said.

"Every year our community groups step up and it never fails to impress me. That kind of energy and spirit is what makes Mansfield Shire such a great place to live."

"For every dollar Council spends on these projects, the value for money is returned many times as an investment into bringing the community together."

Successful 2025-26 round applicants include:

  • Barjarg Community Group – community shelter at the Barjarg CFA site
  • Bonnie Doon Community Group – Billy's House
  • Delatite Valley Association – mural celebrating 100 years of the Merrijig CFA at the CFA site
  • Peppin Hub Inc – fluid and environmental testing for the future community centre site

"The projects from the 2025-2026 funding round will add real value for the community for years to come. If you have an idea for a project your community needs, please let us know," Mayor Cr Rabie said.

Community groups with a draft project idea are invited to a workshop with Council officers ahead of applying, where they can get guidance on how their project might benefit from planning, infrastructure or community development expertise.
