Opportunities for a transformative industrial development for Mansfield have taken a significant step towards becoming a reality following an announcement of funding from the Victorian Government’s Trunk Infrastructure Fund.
A partnership between Mansfield Shire Council and the Woodlands Estate developer David Luelf & Sons Pty Ltd has been formed to progress the Lakins Road industrial development. This will address the long-standing shortage of serviced industrial land in the region. The project will deliver water and sewer services, electricity upgrades, roads, drainage and NBN infrastructure.
Mayor Cr Steve Rabie said the news of the grant funding is a big win for Mansfield Shire businesses and community.
“Council is confident that this industrial estate will unlock jobs and economic growth in Mansfield Shire,” he said.
“Funding from the from Victorian Government will enable Council and our project partners, David Luelf & Sons Pty Ltd, to deliver the trunk infrastructure needed to activate Stage 1.”
“Council has achieved several big advocacy wins recently because we have earned a reputation for delivering value for money. The pavilion works at Lords Reserve, the Station Precinct, the IMPACT route, amongst other externally funded projects, represent significant government investment in the best little shire.”
Stage 1 of the project will deliver 15 hectares of industrial land at Woodlands Estate and deliver 31 fully serviced, development-ready lots. An additional 15 lots will be created on the adjacent Council owned land.
The project is expected to generate significant economic activity and jobs, during construction and once fully developed.
This new industrial estate will provide shovel-ready land for manufacturing, logistics, trades, agribusiness services, government operations and other employment-generating industries. The funding allows Council and its project partner David Luelf & Sons Pty Ltd to progress the project bringing much-needed industrial land to market.
