More room to charge: EV bays expanding in Mansfield

Drivers of electric vehicles will soon benefit from an extended selection of charging points in Mansfield, with the number of EV charging bays in the Foodworks car park on Early Street set to increase.

Works are scheduled to take place between 17 and 28 August 2026 and will see two additional EV charging bays installed.

These additional bays will help reduce wait times for drivers during peak periods, particularly over the busy summer and snow seasons when Mansfield sees an influx of visitors travelling through the region.

Mayor Cr Steve Rabie said the project would deliver significant benefits for the community at no cost to Council.

"The demand for EV charging points has increased in recent years and that demand is set to keep growing," he said.

"Importantly, this project is being delivered at no cost to Council. In fact, these parking spaces are being leased from Council, generating an additional income stream for the community while expanding essential infrastructure." 

"Having four charging bays instead of two will make a real difference for EV drivers stopping in Mansfield."

Foodworks and other nearby businesses will remain open as usual throughout the works, which will be carried out by Evie Networks. Site fencing and safety signage will be in place throughout the works. Drivers and pedestrians are asked to take care around the work zone during this time.
