The Mansfield Social Inclusion Action Group (SIAG) is putting out the call for new members who want to play their part in fostering a more inclusive Mansfield Shire.

If you feel you could bring fresh energy and ideas to the SIAG team, we’d love to hear from you.

Mayor Cr Steve Rabie invites community members and organisations with a strong community focus to engage with SIAG and support the expansion of opportunities for connection and participation.

“We appreciate the valuable contributions our SIAG members make in the community,” he said.

"Their local knowledge, dedication and efforts make the best little shire an even better place to live.”

Since the Mansfield SIAG’s establishment in 2024, it has selected over 30 social inclusion initiatives from a variety of community groups within Mansfield Shire to receive state government funded SIAG grants.

These grants support a diverse range of community initiatives, from groups such as Merton Recreation and Memorial Hall Reserve and the Goughs Bay Progress Association to programs like Code Club Mansfield at the Youth Centre.

SIAG hosted the annual Mansfield Community, Health and Volunteers Expo in partnership with Mansfield District Hospital, as well as a successful Volunteer Appreciation event at the Mansfield Golf Club during National Volunteer Week.

Miranda Connaughton of Mansfield SIAG believes participation in the SIAG program is rewarding for both individuals and the broader community.

“Being part of Mansfield SIAG from the beginning has been a wonderful experience,” she said.

“Watching community groups connect with each other and bringing more into the fold, gathering up more community members, seeing groups begin to work together. The benefits have been incredible for our community.”

SIAG members come from a wide range of backgrounds, working work together to identify local needs. The group seeks to support initiatives that increase community participation and promote mental health and well-being.
