Mansfield Shire community members are being asked to consider a package of proposed changes to the local planning rules that shape how and where the shire grows in the years ahead.

The changes, known as Planning Scheme Amendment C60mans, put into action the recommendations of the Mansfield Planning Strategy 2022. They are now on public exhibition, and Council wants to hear what the community thinks before anything is finalised.

Mayor Cr Steve Rabie said that community feedback is key to making sure that the planning scheme does what is needs to do.

“Council is committed to listening to our community and to acting on their behalf. This allows us to represent them on the matters that impact them,” he said.

“This is a critical time for our shire and we need to hear from you. With ongoing population growth and a mandate of 3900 homes by 2051 coming down from the state government, we need a local planning scheme that accommodates growth while protecting our shire’s country character.”

“Please head to Council’s website and go to our engagement page, we want your feedback on C60mans. We want our planning scheme to represent responsible, respectful and sustainable growth and development that is clearly preferred by our community.”

Key changes proposed in Planning Scheme Amendment C60mans are available for viewing on Council's website.

Community engagement closes Friday 16 October. Submissions can be emailed to strategic.planning@mansfield.vic.gov.au or submitted through our online survey.
