Council welcomes new Australian citizens

Council welcomed eight new Australian citizens on Tuesday 14 July at a Citizenship Ceremony held in the Council Chamber.

Mayor Cr Steve Rabie officiated the ceremony and congratulated Oliver Huss, Kirikanraya Jamram, Leonie Lutz, Janine McFadden and the Reedy family, Reena, Vijendran, Neeharika and Karthik on their commitment to being part of Australia’s future and for taking the final step in their journey to become Australian citizens.

“Our newest citizens come from diverse backgrounds, including Germany, Thailand, South Africa and New Zealand,” he said.

“Citizenship represents a commitment to Australia, our values and a significant investment in a shared future. It’s an honour to be part of such a significant day for the Mansfield Shire residents who value our way of life so much that they wish to make Australia their home.

“It is a pleasure to honour people who have chosen the best little Shire in Australia to call home.”

To commemorate their special day, the new citizens were presented with a certificate, a citizenship coin and a native plant by Mayor Cr Rabie and Crs. Treasure and Clark.
