The news that a potential Victorian Liberal-National Coalition state government would invest $2.8 million in the transformation of the SES station at the proposed Mansfield Emergency Services Precinct has been welcomed by Mansfield Shire Council.
The commitment was announced on Saturday 17 October, when Member for Eildon Cindy McLeish MP and Leader of the Victorian National Party Danny O’Brien MP visited Mansfield to meet with volunteers at the SES Mansfield Unit.
The visit, which followed an earlier visit from Leader of the Opposition Jess Wilson MP in July, gave the politicians a first-hand look at the conditions the unit operates in and the need for an upgrade.
Council has long advocated for the Mansfield Emergency Services Precinct, a purpose-built hub that will bring local emergency services together to improve coordination, response and community resilience.
Mayor Cr Steve Rabie said the commitment recognised the work of local SES volunteers and the importance of the precinct for the whole shire.
“The Emergency Services Precinct is priority number one in Mansfield Shire. Our volunteers give their time to keep our community safe, often in the most difficult conditions. They deserve a facility that gives them the best chance at achieving the best outcome,” he said.
“Any commitment that moves the Emergency Services Precinct closer to reality is a welcome step and we thank Cindy McLeish and Danny O’Brien for taking the time to visit and to pledge the support of the Victorian Liberal-National coalition.”
“We encourage all parties and candidates seeking to form government at the 2026 Victorian state government election to consider how they can support the delivery of the full precinct, and we will continue to advocate for the funding needed to complete it.”
Council will continue to advocate on behalf of the community for the support needed to deliver the Mansfield Emergency Services Precinct.
