Completed Greenvale Lane footbridge improves safety and connectivity for Mansfield residents

The final piece of Mansfield township's shared path network is now in place, with the completion of the Greenvale Lane Footbridge over Ford Creek.

The new bridge closes a long-standing gap in the network, creating a continuous, safer route for pedestrians and cyclists.  

Mayor Cr Steve Rabie said he was thrilled to see the completion of the footbridge.  

"We love the idea of kids being able to hop on their bikes and ride around, the way a lot of us did growing up - and this bridge makes that safer and easier," Mayor Cr Rabie said.  

"We're an active community, and this is exactly the kind of connection that helps keep healthy habits alive for the long term.

"This is a project that will have benefits for generations to come."

The completed works provide a dedicated and safe crossing point over Ford Creek, reducing potential conflicts between pedestrians and vehicles and making it easier for all users to access local community spaces.

The project supports Council's commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles, improving community infrastructure and creating safer public spaces.

The project is funded by the Victorian Government through the Safe Local Roads and Streets Program, which is providing $214 million to make local roads safer across Victoria.  

"Council is grateful for the support through the Safe Local Roads and Streets Program, which has made this important project possible," Mayor Cr Rabie said.  

"Funding partnerships like this allow us to deliver projects that improve safety, connectivity and quality of life for our community.”

The Greenvale Lane Footbridge is now open and available for community use, providing a valuable new link that will be enjoyed by residents and visitors for years to come.
