Delays to upgrade works at the Mansfield swimming pool have delayed the opening of the pool until Saturday, 21 November.
Mansfield Shire CEO, Kaylene Conrick said new epoxy flooring in the change room and resurfacing of the pool surrounds for both the main pool and toddler pool have meant staff haven’t been able to start working on the water quality of the main pool in time to open as planned, on Monday 16 November.
“This is unfortunate, but the new opening date now aligns with when we traditionally open the pool; the third Saturday in November. And the works will give an improved experience as the community gets back to enjoying exercise and socialising in the grounds in a social distanced manner,” Ms Conrick said.
“We know how important both are for our community’s health and we are looking forward to opening the pool and welcoming them back,” she said.
Council had planned to open the pool on 16 November to accommodate the Term 4 school swimming program in line with Covid-safe restrictions, which allow only one school in the facility at a time.
School swimming booked for 16 November will proceed in learner pool and the pool will open to the public on Saturday, 21 November.
Patrons are reminded that there is likely to be increased restrictions on pool access this year in line with State Government directions. To keep up to date with daily opening hours, follow the Mansfield Swimming Pool Facebook page or call the pool on 5775 8602.
